Carolyn Glime and Matt Marek from Performa hosted an APPA Drive-in workshop at St. Norbert College on November 11, 2017, in collaboration with Christopher Gluesing, Director of Planning and Project Delivery at Marquette University. The full-day workshop was well attended by members of UWGB, UW Madison, UW Milwaukee, Ripon Unified School District, Beloit College, Carthage College, and Viterbo University.
The morning discussion focused on integrated institutional planning, covering topics such as corrective maintenance planning and campus master planning in some detail, and presented a specific approach to integrating various institutional plans that, while logical and theoretically effective, is atypical in terms of how most institutions implement the planning process. Lunch included candid round-table discussions that allowed participants to gain valuable insight from one another about emerging issues facing each institution. The afternoon concluded after an hour-long case-study tour of the St. Norbert College campus led by Brian Beth, who has led the implementation of the campus planning and design over the last 10 years with Performa.
Performa will be hosting two similar workshops in 2018 — one in the Minneapolis area and one in the Chicago area — and we invite all who are interested to attend. Keep an eye out for further details on our website in Spring 2018.
